Located in Cambridge Bay, Kitikmeot Helicopters is western Nunavut’s oldest and leading majority Inuit-owned helicopter service provider. Its ownership includes a group of business savvy Inuit investors who control 51% of the company as well as minority owner Great Slave Helicopters, which conducts all flight operations for the partnership.

Pronounced “Ki-tick-me-ot” helicopters, the company takes its name from the traditional Inuinnaqtun word for 450,000 square kilometer region it serves in.

This partnership is well positioned to support mineral exploration activities, search and rescue missions, wildlife surveys, airborne geophysical work, utility development, land and water surveys and other applications.

Originally under the leadership of President Bill Lyall, recipient of the Order of Canada, and now under the leadership of his surviving wife and long-time business partner Jesse Lyall. Kitikmeot Helicopters is a federally incorporated joint-venture company based in Cambridge Bay, NU. Kitikmeot Helicopters is an Inuit Firm pursuant to Article 24 of the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement. It is also registered under the Government of Nunavut’s Nunavummi Nangminiqaqtunik Ikajuuti (NNI) policy as a Nunavut-based business.
