Created in 2010, K’ahsho Got’ine Helicopters is a three-way partnership between Yamoga Energy Services of Fort Good Hope, Behdzi Ahda First Nation Economic Development Trust of Colville Lake, and Great Slave Helicopters, which conducts all flight operations for the joint-venture.
This 65% Aboriginal-owned and controlled company owns its own Bell 206 LR helicopter which is now in service with the Great Slave Helicopter fleet. K’ahsho Got’ine Helicopters is based in Fort Good Hope and services the K’ahsho Got’ine Land District of Sahtu Settlement Area of the Northwest Territories.
K’ahsho Got’ine Helicopters’ machine is a six-passenger Long Ranger, a versatile, smooth and efficient intermediate class helicopter delivering low fuel use even while moving a 1,200-lbs. external load. Some of the industries and applications that could utilize K’ahsho Got’ine Helicopters’ Bell 206 LR include mining, exploration, utility, infrastructure planning and development, medevac/search and rescue, passenger transport, forest firefighting, tourism as well as oil and gas exploration support.
K’ahsho Got’ine Helicopters is well-positioned to meet the needs of companies involved in infrastructure planning and development, wildlife surveys, search and rescue missions, mineral exploration, as well as oil and gas industry activity given its proximity to the proposed Mackenzie Gas Project and the Mackenzie Valley Highway route.
K’ahsho Got’ine Helicopters is under the leadership of President Heather Bourassa and Vice President Joseph Kochon. Under the Sahtu Dene and Metis Comprehensive Land Claim Agreement business and contracting opportunities in the K’ahsho Got’ine District, which includes the communities of Fort Good Hope and Colville Lake, are to give preference to Aboriginal-owned businesses based in those communities. As a majority Aboriginal-owned company, K’ahsho Got’ine Helicopters should always be considered as a preferred supplier by companies or organizations requiring contract rotary-wing services within the K’ahsho Got’ine District of the Sahtu Region.
