Created in 2008, Havgun Helicopters is a majority Inuvialuit-owned and controlled joint-venture partnership operating in the Inuvialuit Settlement Region in the NWT’s Beaufort-Delta, which extends from Inuvik to Banks Island.

Based in Tuktoyaktuk, its ownership includes E. Gruben’s Transport and Northwind Industries which together control 51% of the company as well as minority owner Great Slave Helicopters. All flight operations for Havgun Helicopters are conducted by its minority partner Great Slave Helicopters.

Pronounced “Huv-goon” in the traditional Inuvialuktun language, the company was named as a memorial to James “Havgun” Gruben, in recognition of his love for all aspects of the aviation industry.

Havgun Helicopters is under the leadership of President Merven Gruben and Vice President Kurt Wainman.

As a majority Inuvialuit-owned company, under the terms of the Inuvialuit Final Agreement Havgun Helicopters should always be considered as a preferred supplier by companies or organizations requiring contract rotary-wing services within the in the Inuvialuit Settlement Region.

Havgun Helicopters is well-positioned to meet the needs of companies involved in infrastructure planning and development, mineral exploration, as well as oil and gas industry activity given its proximity to the proposed Mackenzie Valley Highway route and the Mackenzie Gas Project.
